I am thankful

I have to say, there have been quite a few little things "go wrong" in the past few days that have made our day to day life different and crazy. As a direct and indirect result of everything, Joel and I have only gotten 4 hours of sleep for the past couple of days, Noah is running around the house without a diaper on, we will have to run extra laundry every day for at least a week, a couch has been destroyed, and I am sick. But what I've noticed is that we are still so obviously blessed and taken care of. It all piles up and adds interesting challenges (a few that I could not figure out in order to get out of the house today), but I can't say "why me?" (as if I'm being singles out) because right next to the challenges, I still see blessings. I thank God for my beautiful family, our home, food on the table, the challenges that are piled on, and the unnecessary and unexpected blessings. May it all be for the glory of God!

Before all this happened, I read and shared with my Bible Study Psalm 139 and specifically 139:23-24

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Did I get anxious? yes. Have to apologize for things? yes. I didn't say "why me?", but I did say "I don't know what to do next" from being overwhelmed.

Last year, my husband gave me my favorite coffee mug and on it is probably my favorite verse. Any time I start getting anxious, or start saying "what next?", I grab my cup (preferably with coffee in it) and let out a sigh (audible or not) as I read the verse.

"The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him..."

I loved using this coffee cup the past couple of late night while I sat for hours while Joel combed through my hair for lice. That part of the verse serves as a wonderful reminder and statement of trust, but there is more to this beautiful verse!

"... and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him." Psalm 28:7

He helps me in so many unexpected ways. I am in awe of God!

Sweet Noah greeting you on video and an update on our Etsy shop

We bit the bullet and put some hours in to get our Etsy shop up and running. It is hard core because you have to set your own tax rates, accepted payment types and shipping charges. We have to get a business tax id number soon, but we are trying to make sure we apply for it right because doing it as a married couple can go in a couple different directions.  Our shop is Thrifty Innovations and it's web address is You can read about our shop on our profile page here. We only have a few teethers and a puzzle up there right now, but we plan to have the stacker toys, cutting boards, and toy cars. I have a few other things I would like to make, but we are doing a little at a time and we have a lot of other commitments.

Of course I always love to share pictures with posts, but decided to do it a little differently today. I'll be sharing a video of sweet Noah. I've never done this before, so I'm not sure how well it will stream.

How to add a facebook like button to your blog (and update about favicons)

So I'll probably give you two posts today. That is fare warning. This first one will be brief because I just wanted to share some information and a couple links.

I put a facebook like button on my blog a long time ago and meant to share with everyone how I did it. I won't need to explain much because this first tutorial is short and to the point. It helps you get the exact code you want and tells you where to put it. So check this one out:
