Jury Duty

Jury Duty? Really? I always wanted to get Jury Duty - at least I thought I did. But when I was walking back from the mailbox and reading my mail at the same time, I felt like my heart dropped to the ground. Wow, there aren't a whole lot of things that do that to me anymore. Seriously! Ladies - it was that feeling you might remember from high school when your heart throb walks in the room unexpectedly and you instantly wonder if you look okay. I think it might have also been the initial feeling I had when I first saw the "pregnant" reading on the test stick for Noah.

I totally didn't expect this - the feeling I mean. I figured I would be all hunky dory for it. I can just imagine the way I will feel in the courtroom too. Oh, the pressure. If I actually get selected and the case actually happens, I wonder what it will be about. And to think that I would have some say in a guilty or not guilty verdict... that is scary. On the one hand, I don't want to feel that terrible heart racing, nervous, don't-screw-up feeling, but on the other hand, it is probably a little healthy to be realizing that there will be real people and the outcome will affect someone's life. Of course the Ward Bird case in NH is a pretty good example of how a jury outcome can affect someone's life.

I'm just going to pray that if whatever I have to be there for goes to trial, the lawyers do a good job at presenting evidence so that my fellow jurors and I can all make an informed verdict.

Jury Duty? Really. I hardly feel qualified.

Family Music Favorites

Joel and I have been getting lots of recommendations for books and music for children. Here are a few music recommendations that we really like.

Seeds Family Worship

These are great. They are all memory verses put to music. Seeds Family Worship also put a few of the songs to video. Here are two:

We love this song! So much fun!

Questions with Answers
by Dana Dirksen

We have Vol 1 of Question and Answer and love them. Noah loves to listen to them too and we can't wait until he can understand and sing them. You can buy them from songs for saplings or from itunes. This is a YouTube Video of Dana with a Sunday School Class.

Proud Mama!

It has been a while. I think I will be keeping the blog up now though. I have a list of things I could blog about but the top of my list, is NOAH. He is seriously awesome in so many ways and for the past five days, he has totally amazed us!

We decided to try Infant Potty Training. We are considered "late starters" because he is pretty much mobile at this point. Apparently, it is easiest if you start before 6 month or before they start to creep and crawl. Well, we didn't have a problem! We might have tried to teach Noah about going to the bathroom for a week and then we stopped for a couple because we were traveling to NH several times over the holidays. While  Joel was at work on Thursday, I noticed Noah doing something, not sure what it was, but I know that I could tell he was doing a #2 (gross...). This reminded me about the EC training (Elimination Communication). Later that night, before we put Noah in his PJs, Joel held Noah over his potty and there was nothing. Joel did the "psss" sound, but it just didn't happen. Joel just decided to hold him over the big potty and did the same thing - "psss"....

Haha, Noah did it! He peed on the big potty. Well, he is pretty consistent with that now and then on Sunday added a #2 at night.

To be honest, one reason I am so excited (other than the fact that my son is a genius) is that we switched to reusable diapers to save money. Because we are using reusable diapers... it is much more difficult to deal with a poopy diaper. And I really have a weak stomach too. If Noah keeps it up, I wont have to change a poopy diaper again and we wont be dealing with too many wet ones either.

Hooray for early potty training!

Very cool website for buying household products with free shipping

I want to share a helpful website with you. Joel and I are penny pinching and really like this website because we can compare unit prices and it always ships free.

Joel and I were looking to buy some special detergent last month and ended up stumbling across Alice.com. We like to buy a lot of our household products online but don't like to pay for shipping. Alice.com always ships free and has some great deals on popular items. To give you a heads up, the only catch is that you have to buy 6 items at once. That isn't a problem for us because when we get low on something, we can just add it to the cart and wait for 6 items to pile up. It is just like a shopping list waiting on your frig. If we really think about it, we can find 6 things that we need or will need soon (they have a few food products as well). We have been able to organize all of our most bought cleaning supplies (dish soap, laundry soup, trash bags), paper supplies (paper towels, tissues, T.P.), bathroom supplies and more in our "my product" section - seriously awesome. I don't have to search for the brand I always buy and I wont be searching around alice anymore either. I just go to the "my products" and put them in the cart when I need them.

I found out that they do have a referral program. So yes, hehe, I would get some referral points for this, but I would have recommended it to you anyway. I am glad I discovered it because it also gives you a $10 credit when you spend $50.

It saves lots of time and everything is shipped to your door free. If you are interested, click on the link below to sign up, and you’ll get a $10 credit in your account after you spend at least $50 on the site.
